Dear all,

We would like to advertise available postdoc positions in the context of a collaborative project focusing on coupling models of stochastic biochemical processes inside single cells to population-level processes. The objective is then to develop methods for model identification and optimal control to understand and regulate the dynamics of microbial populations that we are studying in our experimental biology laboratory at Pasteur. Experience with either continuous-time Markov chains, SDEs, or alternatively PDEs and numerical analysis is a plus. Specific expertise in biology is not required.

Dear all,

Within my NWO (Dutch Research Council) VIDI project “ANTICANCER: Game theory empowered by data science and control theory to improve treatment of metastatic cancers”, I am looking for 2 PhD candidates: One on expanding the realm of Stackelberg games with evolutionary followers (which we term “Stackelberg evolutionary games”) , aiming at situations with vector-valued strategies https://bit.ly/3Sh2DME and one data-driven predictive modelling for patients with metastatic non-small cell lung cancer with EGRF mutation or ALK translocation https://bit.ly/3dw9TVW. The application deadline is by October 17, 2022. This research will be carried out in collaboration with teams of Anne-Marie Dingemans and Dirk De Ruysscher who are thoracic oncologists and I will also look for a clinical PhD within this project soon.

3.1 Assises des mathématiques, Maison de l’UNESCO (Paris), 14 – 16 Novembre 2022

Les Assises des Mathématiques se tiendront à la Maison de l’Unesco du 14 au 16 novembre 2022. Cet évènement majeur permettra un dialogue entre la communauté mathématique et les acteurs socio-économiques : scientifiques, dirigeantes et dirigeants d’entreprise, responsables associatifs, personnalités politiques, journalistes …

L’objectif des Assises des Mathématiques est de mettre en évidence le rôle croissant que les mathématiques jouent dans les autres sciences, l’industrie et la société. Elles permettront une prise de conscience du fait que l’enseignement et la recherche en mathématiques sont appelés à jouer un rôle clef pour que la France puisse retrouver une souveraineté économique et stratégique.
